Eldon
Booth
(b.1977, Papakura, NZ)
Five
Good Reasons is the second professional short film by Eldon
Booth. His first, the experimental docudrama Withdrawal
(2001) screened in Auckland and Wellington as part of the New
Zealand Digital Film Festival; a collection of some of the country’s
best digital films from 1997 - 2003.
Booth’s short films to date focus on stories relating to
the human condition and social concerns in New Zealand communities
within the wider context of Western culture. His interest lies
in combining experimental elements with traditional narrative
devices; particularly the mixing of documentary and drama techniques
with the intention of blurring the line between illusion and reality
for the viewer.
Since graduating from Manukau School of Visual Arts in 1999, Booth
has worked on various projects as an editor/animator including
video works for installations by prominent New Zealand artists
Judy Darragh and Deborah Crowe. He currently works as a lecturer
in moving image at the University of Auckland’s Manukau
School of Visual Arts.
